These workshops, hosted by the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging, aim to foster understanding, inclusivity, and a supportive community. Open to Humber faculty, administrative, and support staff, sessions are available in both in-person and virtual formats.

What Happens When EDIB Meets Emotional Intelligence?
This interactive workshop is designed to help post-secondary staff and faculty deepen their understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI) as a critical tool for fostering inclusive, equitable, and supportive campus environments. Through self-reflection and discussion, this session will explore how empathy, self-awareness, and emotional regulation can be leveraged to enhance classroom interactions, address implicit biases, and support the well-being of students and staff.
Learning Outcomes:
Understanding EI in Higher Education: Use Emotional Intelligence to promote empathy and inclusion in daily interactions in higher education/at Humber.
Empathy and Bias Awareness: Explore strategies to identify and challenge intersectional biases and develop self-awareness.
Inclusive Student Engagement: Gain practical tips for using EI to support diverse students and colleagues.
Inclusive Relationship Management: Develop tools for responsive and inclusive relationship management

Inclusive Mindset for Committed Allies
Through dynamic discussions and practical exercises, you’ll explore the principles of allyship, reflect on how you can better support students and colleagues, and walk away with actionable strategies to create equitable and welcoming spaces across campus. Better understanding of personal and institutional biases is integral to developing an inclusive mindset. As committed allies we can work together to build a culture of open communication and accountability. This is your opportunity to actively contribute to a more inclusive academic community!
Learning Outcomes:
Cultivate an Inclusive Mindset: Identify and address personal and institutional biases, and integrate inclusive practices into teaching, service, and operational processes.
Practice Active Allyship: Understand and apply the core principles of allyship to create equitable and supportive environments for both students and colleagues in academic and operational roles and recognize your role in fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe environment for the Humber community.
Challenge Bias and Promote Equity: Develop skills to engage in active allyship by effectively calling in or calling out behaviors and practices that undermine inclusion, fostering respectful dialogue and accountability.

Inclusive Leadership: Driving Accountability and Cultivating Inclusive Culture
Inclusive Leadership practices can empower leaders within post-secondary institutions to actively drive Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) initiatives while fostering a culture of accountability. Participants will learn practical strategies to cultivate an inclusive organizational culture, where diverse perspectives are not only welcomed but leveraged for institutional success. This session will focus on creating systems of accountability for EDIB goals, building trust through transparent leadership, and integrating inclusive practices into everyday decision-making.
Learning Outcomes:
Cultivate an Inclusive Leadership Mindset: Understand the core principles of inclusive leadership and how to embed them into daily practices, ensuring that diverse voices are heard and valued across all levels of the institution.
Drive Organizational Accountability for EDIB: Learn how to establish clear metrics, goals, and accountability mechanisms that support EDIB initiatives and ensure progress is measurable and sustainable across the organization.

As we navigate a rapidly changing world, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) remain essential pillars in shaping the future of post-secondary education. This workshop focuses on fostering inclusive communities by leveraging Gentelligence—the strategic use of generational diversity to promote innovation, empathy, and collaboration.
